CPSISC, National Skills Council for workforce development, training and research for the construction and property services industries, today released its 2013-14 Environmental Scan (EScan), indicating that low business confidence is impacting on training to meet forecast improvements in activity.

Innovation & Business Skills Australia (IBSA) is delivering new workshops across Australia on ‘Changes to the Business Services Training Package’ presented by Tony Cusack from February to May 2013 and ‘The new WHS qualifications – leaner, focused and up to date’ presented by Ross Armstrong from April to May 2013.

Technical Amendments to VET standards
In February 2013 the following legislative instruments were amended:
- Standards for NVR RTOs 2011
- Data Provision Requirements 2011
- Standards for VET Accredited Courses 2011
There should be minimal impacts on training providers and course owners as a result of these amendments.
The amendments made are technical in nature and are detailed in the following ASQA news updates:

- Standards for NVR RTOs and Data Provisions Requirements amended
Updated E-Standards for Training now available!
An updated set of standards for creating accessible and reusable e-learning content has been published for the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
Skills for workforce planning and development

High-quality training will help workers and businesses take up new opportunities emerging in the economy, and allow Australian businesses to improve their competitiveness in global markets.

Today marks the launch of an innovative fundraising campaign by WorldSkills Australia and Team Bus aimed at helping our 2013 Team Australia Skillaroos to get their toolboxes to the 42nd WorldSkills International Competition in Leipzig, Germany.

New Ministers for Skills

We welcome the Hon Chris Bowen MP to his new position as Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research, and Minister for Small Business. Minister Bowen replaces Senator Chris Evans who resigned from the position on 2 February 2013.
